Cast Off!

Come have your words valued and your confidence buoyed by a small, supportive community of writers. Come discover that writing with others is catharsis, creation, and a damn good time! Come write, regardless of experience, and find yourself producing and listening to fresh and surprising new works of fiction, poetry, lovesongs, personal essays, personal vendettas, hybrid forms, or even just a nascent flurry of ink on paper–the seed and the spark for deeper exploration–through the celebrated Amherst Writers & Artists method.

The 2nd Fall 2017 session will begin at The Jalopy Theatre & School of Music on November 5th Come Cast Off! with me.

“A writer is someone who writes.”  ~ William Stafford

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~ H. Jackson Brown, Jr.’s mother, by many sources, though often attributed to Mark Twain. I’m putting my money on the unnamed mother.

“Leslie’s Cast Off! workshops offer novice and experienced writers a safe and supportive space to generate new work. Her creative spirit makes her workshops fun and engaging. Also, I loved the way the AWA method allowed me to feel at ease and take risks with my writing. Leslie did a great job encouraging everyone to participate and provide positive craft-focused feedback.”

“The workshop I took with Leslie was a delight! Leslie is a creative genius–she took an ordinary object and turned it into a prompt that got me writing a scene for a short story. Leslie kept the group focused and encouraged all of us to share our writing–scary for some, but made easier by her warm smile and supportive personality. Whether you are a beginning writer or an experienced one, a Cast Off! Workshop will steer you in the right direction.”
