Cast Off!

Let’s hear those writing bells jingling, ring-ting-tingling too. C’mon it’s lovely weather for writing together with you! This winter, workshop drafts of your short stories, essays, novel, biography, etc. on Sundays at the Jalopy Theater in Carroll Gardens/Red Hook, or come produce mountains of fodder for fun, practice, or your next writing project, Tuesday evenings at Prosper GoWork on the Bushwick/BedStuy border. Writing tutoring, editing help, and private consultations can also be arranged at the Prosper GoWork Broadway location, the Prospect Heights location, or remotely. Pick your poison!

“A writer is someone who writes.”  ~ William Stafford

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~ H. Jackson Brown, Jr.’s mother, by many sources, though often attributed to Mark Twain. I’m putting my money on the unnamed mother.

“The workshop I took with Leslie was a delight! Leslie is a creative genius–she took an ordinary object and turned it into a prompt that got me writing a scene for a short story. Leslie kept the group focused and encouraged all of us to share our writing–scary for some, but made easier by her warm smile and supportive personality. Whether you are a beginning writer or an experienced one, a Cast Off! Workshop will steer you in the right direction.”

“Leslie created a supportive environment where writers of all levels could feel comfortable. I love her energy and humor and smarts! She definitely made me feel welcome and like I was in a playful, creative zone where I could really get into the flow, explore, go all kinds of places with my writing and not be judged harshly. She gave me great feedback on my pieces and made me feel like she was truly listening, truly interested in my stories.”
